Medical disclaimer
This page explains the scope of the information on this website and how nutritional therapy works alongside your medical care.
Nutritional therapy, not medical care
I'm Jessica Fonteneau, a Registered Nutritional Therapist. Nutritional therapy is a complementary approach. It works alongside the care you receive from your GP, dermatologist or other medical professionals, not instead of it.
Nothing I provide, whether on this website, in my resources or during a consultation, is a medical diagnosis or medical treatment, and it isn't a substitute for advice from an appropriately qualified medical professional.
If you have a health concern, think you may have a medical condition, or your symptoms are new, severe or changing, please speak to your GP or another appropriate medical professional.
This website and its resources
The general information on this website, including free resources, downloadable guides, quizzes and articles, is provided for educational purposes.
It isn't personalised nutritional or medical advice and can't take account of your individual health history, symptoms, diagnoses, medications, allergies or other circumstances.
Reading or using information from this website doesn't create a practitioner client relationship between us. A practitioner client relationship begins only when I have accepted you as a client and we have agreed to work together under my terms of engagement.
Your medication and medical treatment
Please don't start, stop or change any prescribed medication or medical treatment based on anything you read on this website or discuss with me.
Decisions about medication, including topical corticosteroids and any decision to reduce, change or stop using them, should be made with the medical professional responsible for your care.
If I feel that something falls outside my professional scope, or that you should speak to your GP, dermatologist or another specialist, I'll tell you and signpost you appropriately.
Working alongside your medical team, rather than around it, is central to how I practise.
Results and expectations
Every person's situation is different, and I can't promise a particular outcome or timeline.
Any testimonials, reviews, examples or case studies on this website describe individual experiences. They aren't a guarantee that you will experience the same results.
Nutritional therapy takes a personalised look at diet and lifestyle factors that may be relevant to your health and wellbeing.
Recommendations are individualised, and responses can vary considerably from person to person.
Allergies, intolerances and urgent symptoms
If you have a known food allergy, always check ingredients carefully and follow the advice and emergency plan provided by your medical team.
I don't diagnose allergies, and information on this website shouldn't be used in place of formal allergy assessment, testing or an allergy action plan provided by an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
If you're experiencing a medical emergency, including a severe allergic reaction or anaphylaxis, seek emergency medical help immediately.
In the UK, call 999 or go to your nearest A&E. If you're outside the UK, contact your local emergency service.
Professional registration and standards
I am a Full Practising Member of BANT, the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine, and I am registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council, CNHC.
I practise in accordance with the relevant professional standards and codes of conduct of these organisations.
You can read more about my qualifications, professional memberships and registration on my Credentials page.
