Your eczema keeps coming back for a reason
The Eczema Trap® is a clinical framework built around the 10 most common root drivers of persistent eczema and dermatitis. Ten self-guided protocols. One quiz that tells you where to start.

If you've been managing your eczema for years — steroid creams, antihistamines, elimination diets, dermatology referrals — and it keeps returning, the missing piece is almost always root-cause investigation.
Eczema is a signal. It tells you something is happening in the gut, the immune system, at the skin barrier, or across several of these at once. Addressing the surface without addressing what's driving it is why you are in the Eczema Trap: the flare, the treatment, the temporary relief, the flare again.
The Eczema Trap® framework maps the 10 most clinically significant drivers of persistent eczema. Some people have one dominant driver. Most have two or three that interact. The protocols give you a structured, evidence-informed way to address each one.
The 10 Protocols
The Elimination Reset
A structured dietary reset to remove the most common inflammatory triggers and establish a clear baseline — the foundation for much of the work that follows.
Gut Repair
The gut-skin axis sits at the centre of most chronic eczema cases. This protocol addresses intestinal permeability, gut dysbiosis, and digestive function to reduce the inflammatory signals driving your skin.
Reintroduction & Clarity
Systematic reintroduction of foods removed during the Elimination Reset, so you can identify your personal triggers with confidence rather than guessing.
Histamine & MCAS
Histamine intolerance — where the body accumulates more histamine than it can break down — is a common and under-recognised driver of eczema. This protocol addresses DAO enzyme function, histamine load, and mast cell activity.
Sensitivities & Skin Barrier
A compromised skin barrier lets irritants in and moisture out. This protocol covers nutritional support for ceramide production, essential fatty acids, and filaggrin function, alongside IgG-mediated food sensitivities and environmental triggers including skincare ingredients, household products, and hygiene products that may be sustaining inflammation at the skin surface.
Inflammation
Chronic, low-grade inflammation is the backdrop of most atopic conditions. This protocol maps the dietary and lifestyle drivers of your inflammatory state and addresses them systematically.
Hormone Balance
Hormonal fluctuations — across the menstrual cycle, perimenopause, or in response to stress — can directly influence mast cell activity and skin barrier function. This protocol addresses the nutritional drivers of hormonal eczema patterns.
Liver Support
The liver processes histamine, hormones, and environmental compounds. When it's under pressure, the skin often reflects it. This protocol addresses your body's detoxification capacity from a nutritional standpoint.
Stress Resolution
The stress-skin axis is well-documented: cortisol affects mast cell activity, gut permeability, and immune balance. This protocol addresses the physiological mechanisms connecting stress and skin inflammation.
How the protocols work
Each protocol is a self-guided, structured programme. You work through it in your own time, at your own pace.
Every protocol includes:
- Bite-sized modules with teaching, tasks, and reflections
- Practical handouts, checklists, and trackers
- A tailored recipe booklet with 21 breakfasts, 21 lunches, 21 dinners, and 7 snacks
The protocols are designed to work alongside your existing medical care, not instead of it.
Pricing & Options
The protocols are available individually or in bundles of three, five, or all ten. If your eczema has more than one driver — which is common — a bundle gives you the most complete picture.
1:1 Support
If your situation is complex — multiple drivers, a long history, other conditions alongside your eczema — individual support may suit you better than self-guided protocols alone.
Jessica works with a small number of one-to-one clients. Initial consultations include a thorough clinical assessment, a personalised nutrition and supplement plan where appropriate, and follow-up support. Where relevant, this may include functional testing including stool, hormones or nutrigenomic testing (looking at how your genetic variants influence your histamine metabolism, vitamin D processing, or inflammatory response).

About Jessica
Jessica Fonteneau is a Registered Nutritional Therapist (MSc, mBANT, CNHC, DipIoN) specialising in the gut-skin axis. She's worked with adults and children with persistent eczema, dermatitis, histamine intolerance, and MCAS for over a decade.
She also has lived experience of atopic eczema from infancy. The Eczema Trap framework comes from both her clinical practice and from understanding what it's like to be in the loop herself.
FAQs
Are the protocols suitable if I'm currently on prescribed creams or other medication?

If you're in an active flare, it's worth speaking to Jessica before starting, book a free discovery call.
How do I know which protocol to buy?
The quiz takes five minutes and maps your top drivers. If you're still unsure after the quiz, book a discovery call.
Are the protocols suitable for children?
The Eczema Trap protocols are designed for adults. For children, see Little Eczema Trap — Jessica's paediatric programme. Click here to learn more.
